Mediterranean Magic
A perfect mash-up of airy Greek style blended with California native plants.
An unexpected Mediterranean retreat thrives behind this Spanish bungalow. Mediterranean herbs and fruit trees blend seamlessly with California sages of all kinds in Pasadena, California. The dog/ soccer-proof 'lawn' is watered ONCE a week and has never been mowed. The home-owners love their landscape. Seasonal pruning of this yard keeps it's shape from becoming overgrown but the home-owners love leaving all the wild blossoms as long as possible as it becomes a see of hummingbirds, butterflies & relaxed pollinators.

A flower-collector's wild coastal blend near the Pismo Beach dunes.

This tapestry of California native, Mediterranean and Australian plants is packed with color spring to fall. Overlooking the vineyard in the back, the shadier section of the yard features a stream-like path and fruit trees along sheltered walls.

Edible, asian & desert vibes all rolled into a perennial patio package where apothecary cocktails & classy Japanese cuisine abound. A very modern twist on the conventional model of annual flower baskets in this neck of the woods.

The home of contemporary artist David Tourje was once the Chouinard House, a historic South Pasadena haven. This Monterey Colonial is sanctuary to a number of endangered Engelman Oaks, a multitude of drought tolerant & edible gardens, eclectic art installations and an ample pool.

MIDCENTURY MAKEOVER

This large OC corner lot required a new lawn and a new look! We mixed a large green space for a big family with low-water mediterranean and native plants & a sexy custom redwood fence. The entry required a substantial exterior design re-think & meticulously crafted walkway layouts to organize the home's uniquely angled layout.

SILVER & WILD
|
Silver foliage and glowing blossoms adorn this charming Altadena modern home. A large existing crepe myrtle provided color contrast to make this front yard pop. In the backyard low-water low-mow native lawn grass created a huge play space for 2 young children while fruit trees, a cactus garden and natives bedeck the beds.

CALIFORNIA COTTAGE GARDEN
|
An average sized backyard was in dire need of a lawn downsize. Working closely with the client, we developed a romantic aesthetic with lots of vibrant color and personality. We featured sages, grasses, poppies & geraniums. She was skeptical we could create a cottage garden that would hold up the LA basin's heat but there's no room for doubt now! Any garden style can be drought tolerant with a little bit of analysis and planning.

HOLLYWOOD GLAM

This beautifully designed Hollywood classic was in serious need of a landscape refresh. We converted the dying lawn and old birch trees in the front yard to elegant jelly palms and grand Decomposed Granite entry courtyard. The backyard pool terrace got an update with a variety of adaptable hot-colored tropicals and a new slope planting. Thanks to New Image Landscaping for their amazing install work!

An upscale residential complex suffered a major landscape fail & invited our team (along with New Image Corp.) to do the retrofit. We devised a traditional looking landscape that appealed to residents (roses + hedging) that was still ultra low water and offered year round color.

Canadian Homesteads
Meet the Chunnel (Movable Chicken-Tunnel): This shade cloth chicken circus tent was erected to help expand protected grazing space for some backyard chickens
